On 24th Feb, Charlotte Hatherley (yes her from Ash) kicked off her monthly residency ‘experiment’ at Bar academy Islington. Each show is to take place on the final sunday of each month and I know there are definitely shows for the next 3 months planned. This gig consisted of a set containing songs from her 2005 debut solo album and 2007’s follow-up, The Deep Blue. If you like summery indie-pop music then come along!!

The Bar Academy was a nice little venue… this was my first visit. The stage was small and the lights were fixed, no movement or flashing which made my life easier as I only had to adjust my camera settings depending on whom I was aiming at. The direct light pointing at Charlotte created a shadow across her face so I had to pick my moments to press the shutter release well. If I can make the next gig then I’ll see if I can bounce a little flash off the ceiling to get rid of the shadows.
