The greatest punk band of all time return to the UK as part f the 21st Century Breakdown world tour…

Finally, the chance I have been waiting for since I started doing this… a chance to photograph one of my all time favourite bands. I don’t listen to them too often these days but when I do it brings back a lot of memories. ‘Dookie’ is one of my musical highlights from growing up and I’ve followed them since, and I don’t think I will ever stop liking them.

The night was opened by Prima Donna, led by Kevin Preston who also plays in the Green Day side project, Foxboro Hot Tubs. They sounded pretty good from the few songs I witnessed and I look forward to seeing them in a more suitable

Where do you start when reviewing Green Day? Definitely my favourite live act ever, and this time they were playing for nearly 3 hours. I don’t think there is any other band I could watch for that amount of time without getting bored… but Green Day is just full of awesomeness. Billie Joe is as ever the perfect band leader and easily the most entertaining guy to ever stand on a music stage. I challenge even the biggest Green Day hater to go and see them and walk away without a smile beaming across their face.

The set list is superb with tracks played from pretty much every one of their releases with a few classics played together in a medley. I didn’t think I would ever hear the playing the likes of ‘Going to Pasalacqua’ live again. If you have ever seen Green Day before you know exactly what you are going to get… the usual form-a-band tricks where in place again as they invited people onstage to play ‘Knowledge’, the water pistols where there, the t-shirt rocket launcher, the fireworks, the flames, and the perfect closer of ‘Good Riddance’.
