Arrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggh!

The Broadcast kicked of the night with a set of pretty standard emo-punk-pop. If I had of been into this gig musically I would have rated them the second best of the night. Jody Has A Hitlist were up second. The only memorable thing for me was the covers of two annoying pop songs, Kesha’s Tick Tock and Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance. 3rd best on the night.

The New Cities were the main headliners and easily the best band of the bill. Never heard of these Canadians before and they are not the type of band I would listen to generally, but they were pretty entertaining to watch and listen to on the night.

Now I didn’t know Twenty Twenty before. They had played recently at Academy 2, so I though they must be doing something right to jump from the bar venue to the main 800 capacity room within a couple of months. But this was just pop music dressed as a pop-punk band. This is Busted for 2010. I never expected to like them, but if I had known that they would be miming then there is no way I would have bothered. First I was told by the promotor that they actually had members of the now defunct Chasing Aimee playing and singing for them behind the amplifiers and to add to the disappointment all but one photographer was allowed to use flash as the manager (or someone else with the band) stated they only wanted him/her to get good photos.
